An intranet is a local area network (LAN) used internally in an organisation to facilitate communication and access to information that is sometimes access-restricted. Sometimes the term refers only to the most visible service, the internal web site. The same concepts and technologies of the Internet such as clients and servers running on the Internet protocol suite are used to build an intranet. HTTP and other internet protocols are commonly used as well, especially FTP and email. There is often an attempt to use internet technologies to provide new interfaces with corporate 'legacy' data and information systems.
There does not necessarily have to be any access from the organisations's internal network to the internet itself. Where there is, there will be a firewall with a gateway through which all access takes place. Traffic going through the gateway can be monitored by the organisation's security department. This means that organisations that allow their staff internet access can normally determine which internet web sites are being viewed, block access to specific sites they don't want them to see (such as pornographic sex sites), and even trace offenders who persistently attempt to view them. They can also block certain types of web content (such as objects) which they consider a particular security risk.
Where external email access is provided, known sources of spam and specific types of email attachment can be blocked by the organisation. It should also be noted that emails sent and received this way can be required to be produced by the organisation in the event of legal action against it by a third party.

The Ringtail, (Bassariscus astutus) is a mammal belonging to the raccoon family, native to the Americas. It is also known as the Ringtail Cat or Miner's Cat, and is sometimes mistakenly called a Civet Cat.
Smaller than a House Cat, Ringtails are found throughout California, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and parts of Northern Mexico. Nocturnal and shy, they are rarely seen. They are omnivorous, eating fruits, berries, insects, lizards, small rodents and birds. Owls, coyotes and bobcats prey on Ringtails. The Ringtails are 30-42 cm long with a tail of 31-44 cm and weights 0,8-1,5 kg.
Ringtails build nests for themselves, usually in the hollows of trees. As adults they lead solitary lives. Ringtails are said to make excellent and affectionate pets and effective mousers, being easily tamed

A veteran refers to a person who is experienced in a particular area, particularly referring to people in the armed forces. (From Latin vetus, meaning "old.")
Upon leaving the armed forces veterans have needed to find a new place in society. For most of history, dealing with veterans was a haphazard affair. This is especially true as most states did not have any fixed standing army and most warriors were farmers for the bulk of the year and thus had a secondary occupation to support them during times of peace. The first state to face significant veterans affairs problems was the Roman Empire whose professional army of career soldiers needed some new role once they retired. For the most part veterans were given land in the newly conquered lands, and the need for such lands motivated the empire's expansion.
Veterans were for the most part ignored by governments in subsequent millennia, although veterans were often given free or discounted lands in colonies. There was little or no aid for veterans suffering mental of physical disabilities and those wounded in war often had to turn to begging or crime, something that still occurs sometimes today.
The treatment of veterans changed after the First World War. In the years following, discontented veterans became a source of instability. They could quickly organize, had links to the army, and themselves often had arms. Veterans have also long felt that their sacrifice for their states has earned them certain rights. Veterans played a central role in the post-World War I instability of Germany, while in the United States the Bonus Army of unemployed veterans was one of the most important protest movements of the Great Depression.

Radar jamming is the intentional emission of radio frequency signals to interfere with the operation of a radar by saturating its receiver with false information. There are two types of radar jamming: noise jamming and deception jamming.
A noise jamming system is designed to delay or deny target detection. Noise jamming attempts to mask the presence of targets by substantially adding to the level of thermal noise received by the radar. Noise jamming usually employs high power signals tuned to the same frequency of the radar. The most common techniques include barrage, spot, swept spot, cover pulse, and modulated noise jamming. Noise jamming is usually employed by stand-off jamming (SOJ) assets or escort jamming assets.
Deception jamming systems (also called repeat jammers) are designed to offer false information to a radar to deny specific information on either bearing, range, velocity, or a combination of these. A deception jammer receives the radar signal, modifies it and retransmits the altered signal back to the radar.
Initially, the challenge was simple: tune in to the fixed frequencies of the radar, and then start jamming on those frequencies. However, as radars became more sophisticated they used irregular noise superimposed on the radar signal to cloak it, and the signals were broken up into short bursts, and the frequencies used were changed rapidly and constantly.
Radar jamming for the purposes of defeating speed detection radar is simpler than for military application, although it is often illegal.

Communications jamming is usually aimed at radio signals to disrupt control of a battle. A transmitter, tuned to the same frequency as the opponents receiving equipment and with the same type of modulation, can with enough power override any signal at the receiver. The most common types of this form of signal jamming are: Random Noise; Random Pulse; Stepped Tones; Wobbler; Random Keyed Modulated CW; Tone; Rotary; Pulse; Spark; Recorded Sounds; Gulls; and Sweep-through. All of these can be divided into two groups - obvious and subtle.
Obvious jamming is easy to detect as it can be heard on the receiving equipment. It is some type of noise such as stepped tones (bagpipes), random-keyed code, pulses, erratically warbling tones, and recorded sounds. The purpose of this type of jamming is to block out reception of transmitted signals and to cause a nuisance to the receiving operator.
Subtle jamming is that during which no sound is heard on the receiving equipment. The radio does not receive incoming signals yet everything seems superficially normal to the operator. These are often technical attacks on modern equipment, such as 'SQUELCH capture'
